As some of you know, Zachary has taken Auto Tech classes through Salem High for the past two years. His plans are to continue his education through Lakes Region Community College next fall.
Recently all auto tech students across the country took a written skills test, which qualifies the top students from each school to compete against the other top students in their state, in Ford & AAA's "Student Auto Skills Competition". Salem High School's top-scoring students were Zachary and his friend Anthony. Yayyyyy!!!!
This past weekend the NH & VT competition took place at the NH Motor Speedway. The contest consisted of each school receiving the same car with the same bugs in it. The teams had to locate and fix these bugs in the least amount of time, with the least amount of errors. (There was actually a more detailed formula to the scoring, but I have yet to figure that out.).
So, through over an hour in very cold rain, the kids worked on these cars. It was a bit stressful watching the whole thing. Between knowing they were on a time limit, not knowing if they really knew what they were doing, and the rain I couldn't wait for it to be over.
So....... the results came in a few hours later, and out of the ten competing schools Zachary and Anthony came in 3rd!!!!!! They received trophies, tools, and scholarships. Once again ~ CONGRATULATIONS!!!
