Saturday Share ...

It's been a week and a half since this sweet little baby bunny appeared at our doorstep. He's made major improvements, and looks forward to being feed his "milk". When he see's me he twitches his teeny nose, and licks his mouth. His ears have begun to stick more off of his head, and he's begun to hop. He likes to run around a bit in the living room, but when he's done he runs towards something to cuddle up to. He will also cuddle up with Autumn on the couch. And he's becoming a little pudgy :)

In a few more weeks we will have to think about letting the bunny go.  We thought about possibly keeping him, but he was meant to be to be free.  I will certainly miss the little guy.

Happy Saturday!

Fabulous Friday Finds ... Go Fly a Kite!

I've never had success flying a kite. Either it's not windy enough, too windy, or everything just tangles up in my clumsy hands. Then I get all hot and grumpy, and that's the end of that.

What I do love is to watch others fly a kite. I think they are colorful, beautiful, and they seem to have just a bit of magic. Or maybe you need just a bit of magic in yourself to have the ability to fly one.

This week my "Fabulous Friday Finds" post is all about the magical kite! As usual each item is an Etsy find, with a mixture of handmade and vintage. If you'd like to see more from a particular seller/artisian, each photo is numbered and all the links are listed below the collage.

 Ready, set, take flight!!!

Such lovely items ~ if asked to chose a favorite, I don't think that I could :)

Happy Friday!

my dreams of being on a roller derby team have been crushed ...

For my seventh or eighth birthday (hopefully 7th, geez) I was given a pair of metal roller skates which go on over your shoes, and a pair of Wonder Woman Underoos. These two items were not meant to go together, but I recall being super excited because I have a summer birthday which meant that I could use my new roller skates outside while WEARING the Underoo's.

Fast forward a few years to when we would go to the Roll-A-Round for real roller skating. I was not very good, but in my imagination I wore sparkly outfits, and did all kinds of moves and tricks.

Fast forward another few years, and I learned that there were Roller Derby teams who compete against each other. The part of this that interested me was the roller skating of course, but also the cool outfits, all that makeup, the hair, and the names the girls used. The part that scared me was how rough it was, and the fear of getting hurt. I wished I was a good enough skater, and a tough enough girl to join. Someday I told myself.

Fast forward once again another few years, and the Drew Barrymore movie "Whip It" came out. It was a story about a Roller Derby team, and the what they went through on and off the floor. I was sooooo excited about this movie, and absolutely loved it. This reawakened my dream, and I actually looked online and found a local team which I though about going to watch. This never ended up happening with kids and life, and there were many more important things on my plate, but it was still always in the back of my mind.

Now on to the present.  Imagine my distress when I took Autumn roller skating last night, (I hadn't skated since before she was born which was nine or more years ago) and I tied on my skates, stood up, imagined myself all dressed up as a roller derby girl, only to discover that I couldn't even move without stumbling. I couldn't believe this was happening to me.

By the end of the night I was doing ok, but I couldn't skate anywhere near as good as I used to. So now my dream of being on a roller derby team have officially been CRUSHED!!
But after all, it was only just a dream ...

In the end we did have a ton of fun.  Autumn went from gripping my hand, to skating along on her own at a good pace.  I anticipated being very sore today, but I'm actually doing pretty well :)

Has anyone ever been to watch a roller derby competition?
Or better yet, been on a roller derby team?
I'd love to hear your story :)

Have a great day, and be sure to stop back tomorrow to find out my latest theme for my "Fabulous Friday Finds" post.  And as usual if you are a handmade artisian, and would like a chance to have one of your items featured, just send me a message!

Wordless Wednesday ...

Ssshhhh...I cannot let Autumn know that I've posted this photo on my blog, nevermind featured it for WW! When she saw this photo she asked me to delete it because she hates it. I pretended I did, but I really didn't because it's one of my favorite photos of her.  It reminds me of me when I was her age, especially because of the vintage style.  It also represents her nature ~ she loves to play outdoors with unbrushed hair and no shoes.

Something I want to remember forever.

She Sells Sea Shells by the Sea Shore ...

... Now say that 100 times as fast as you can!

One trend I have been seeing around the internet is the popularity of lovely collages put together including entire outfits, room designs, and more. I love looking at what others have chosen, and finding things that I'd wear as well.  I've been avoiding looking into this myself, because I really don't need another addictive activity to do on the computer. But I could only hold out for so long, and I've now joined in on the craze called Polyvore!

Just imagine how fun it is to put together an entire outfit where everything goes together perfectly, and money is no object? Although I am happy to say though that my first collection turned out to be pretty afforable. The best part is that there are direct links to stores selling the products, which makes purchasing your finds incredibly easy.

One of my favorite color combos is red and blue.  I'm not into matchy-matchy, mostly just putting together things that coordinate well.  So last but not least, here is my first collection :) Perfect for dining seaside.

DIY Pinecone Bird Feeder

Last week my bloggy friend Theresa posted about a fun project she did with her girls. They made Bird Seed Cake Ornaments to hang in their yard. This looked like such a fun idea that I planned on following her tutorial, and making some of our own this past weekend.

I made sure I had all the materials, and hadn't even mentioned the project to Autumn yet, when she came to me with some perfect pinecones she found in the yard, and announced that she wanted to make Pinecone Bird Feeders.   I recall making these as a child.  It was a lot of messy fun, but the best part was watching to see if a bird was actually going to eat from them.

So I decided we would start off with the pincone feeders, and then later on in the week I plan to follow Theresa's DIY and also make the Bird Seed Cake Ornaments.  A bird can never have too much food :)

Below I've posted pictures and directions for the Pinecone Bird Feeders, and if you'd like to check out Theresa's DIY for the Bird Seed Cake Ornaments hop on over to her blog ~ Theresa's Mixed Nuts Bird Seed Cake Ornament Tutorial.
